Half of a Roman silver republican denarius of Mark Antony dating to BC 32 - 31 (Reece period 1). Reverse type depicts legionary eagle between two standards. Sear (2000:283/4) nos. 1479 - 1483. The 'legionary' coinage of Mark Antony honoured twenty three legions but it is impossible to identify the legion of this coin due to its poor condition.

An incomplete Roman cast copper-alloy probably Dolphin or Applied Hook brooch with hinged pin dating to c. AD 55-100. The head, bow and foot survive but most of the pin and part of the catchplate are lost. The brooch head has two cylindrical wings with open ends. One wing is complete, the other is missing 50% of its length to an old break which leaves uncovered part of the axis bar. The complete wing has four incised transverse lines across its length. There is a large transverse slot on the underside of the head between the wings where the pin is hinged of which only 10.64mm remains.…

A lead alloy token of uncertain date. The token is uniface and sub-rectangular, with a saltire or 'X' incised into the centre of one face. The reverse is plain. The object measures 25.98mm in length, 19.94mm in width, 3.71mm in thickness and weighs 13.55g. Although difficult to date outside of a secure archaeological context, the token was found in an area with a large number of Roman period finds.

Cast lead alloy weight, probably of Medieval to Post-Medieval date. The weight is in the shape of a truncated cone with a sub-circular flat base from which the sides taper inwards to the flattened round topped apex. The weight has been perforated, with an irregularly shaped hole running from the apex to the base. The weight measures 20.64mm in height, 32.80mm in diameter at the base and weighs 106.08 g. Lead weights were used for a long period and lack many diagnostic features, so are difficult to date precisely although most are Medieval or Post medieval in date.

A Post Medieval copper alloy coin weight dating to the period cAD1750 - 1800. The weight is for a half-guinea with the incuse stamped inscription 10/6 on both sides, and the letters S/P legible above on one face. On the reverse is the number 10 but the remainder is illegible. It measures 16.58mm in diameter, 2.65mm in thickness and weighs 3.72g. A similar example can be found in Gordon Bailey (2008) Detector Finds 4 p 38 No. 12. A Post Medieval copper alloy open thimble or sewing ring dating to the period cAD1400 - 1600. The thimble has an open crown, and with the band split. The walls of the thimble are covered in hand-drilled, sub-circular indentations arranged into a series of concentric circles. There is an incised band around the base of the thimble. It measures 11.04mm in height, 18.40mm in diameter at the top and 19.57mm at the base and weighs 3.72g. cf. a comparable thimble illustrated by Holmes (1988: fig. 4), dated to c. AD 1500.

An incomplete Post Medieval copper alloy book clasp dating to the period c. AD 1500 - 1700. The fitting is rectangular in shape with one wider flaring end. The opposite end of the plate is straight and from the centre projects a broken hook which curves backwards. The tip of the hook is missing to an old break. There is a drilled rivet hole positioned 9.43mm near the flaring end and a rivet in situ at 3.6 mm. A second rivet is situated at 12.36mm from the hook. An incomplete copper alloy pipe tamper of Post-Medieval date. The tamper is in the form of a claw hammer but is missing half of the claw, the hammerhead, part of the shaft and the tamper itself due to old breaks. The block at the top of the shaft is rectangular in shape and measures 12.9 mm in length and 8.4 mm in width. At one end there is a small circular projection from which the now missing hammerhead would have extended. A complete Post Medieval copper alloy open thimble dating to the period cAD1500 - 1620. The thimble has sloping sides and a continuous right-hand spiral of square indentations running from the base to the top rim. At the end of the indentations there is a stamped maker's mark of a crown with three circular rings inside a domed recessed panel. An incised line runs round the lower rim of the thimble. It measures 10.74mm in height, 19.17mm in diameter at the top and 21.09mm at the base and weighs 4.84g. Reference is made to this type of thimble in Holmes, FRG Datasheet 9, pg 3.

A Medieval to Post Medieval copper alloy annular buckle dating to the period cAD1350 - 1650. The buckle has a simple circular frame with bevelled inside edge and a recessed strap bar. A seperately made copper alloy pin survives intact on the bar. The buckle measures 18.70mm in diameter and weighs 2.47g. Similar examples can be found in Whitehead (2003:44-45), to which he assigns a date range of AD 1350-1650.

A lead suspension weight probably dating to the Medieval to Post Medieval period. The weight is sub-rectangular in shape. The top narrows to an integral suspension loop and the base is flat and protrudes slightly from the sides all around. The object is quite crude and all surfaces are pitted. The weight measures 47.89mm in length, 14.52mm in width and weighs 69.21g. Lead weights were used for a long period and lack many diagnostic features, so are difficult to date precisely although most are Medieval or Post medieval in date. A similar example can be found at SOM-BC7E70.

The cuff link consists of an octagonal button with slightly convex front and concave reverse with down turned edges creating a border around the back of the cuff link. A Medieval copper alloy single loop rectangular buckle dating to cAD1350 - 1400. There is a groove for the pin on the outer edge with an angled groove on either side. The pin is missing. The strap bar is narrowed and offset. The buckle measures 15.95mm in length, 25.77mm in width and weighs 3.64mm. Egan (2007:96) suggests this form, type A, dates to the late 14th century. SOM-686354 on this database is similar.
