A Post-Medieval copper-alloy button probably dating to the Napoleonic wars (AD 1803 - 1815). The button is semi-circular in plan due to the loss of approximately one third of the outer edge. The front has a "15" in the centre of a circular rib; the legend reads REPUBLIQ[E FRANC]AISE with a star after the "E". The reverse is undecorated but has several notches which could be where the button loop was originally attached. It is comprised of two sheets of copper-alloy that have been riveted together, with on rivet visible at the clasping end. The attachment end has three evenly spaced holes.
