An incomplete post medieval copper alloy pocket sundial or ring dial, dating to the 17th or 18th century AD. This was found together with three small, curved strips of metal and a rectangular piece of metal with a rectangular hole in the centre. The sundial consists of a strip of metal, formed into a ring or band. It has a diameter of c55.05mm with a break of c6.5mm. It has a groove running around the outer face of the band, taking up approximately the central third of the band. A complete French medieval copper alloy jetton, dating from the late 14th - early 15th century. The obverse depicts a crown, with large fleur de lys apex, all within a circular border. There is a rosette with central dot at the centre of the base of the crown, with single pellet either side. The inscription is AVE . MARIA . GRACIA with rosettes with central dots as stops. A complete cast lead or lead alloy mount or stud dating probably to the late medieval or early post medieval period (15th or 16th century AD: see Read Metal Artefacts of Antiquity 2001, p22 and 32 fig 17 for similar examples). However, others of this type have been dated to the Roman period and described as furniture or box studs. This mount is circular in form, D shape in section, with a shank which is now bent so that it lies against the flat base of the mount. The shank was probably circular in section and with a pointed end, but is now misshapen.

Description: A post-medieval silver vervel, of the 'washer' type, probably dating to the period AD 1600-1700. These were attached to the leg of a bird of prey, e.g. a hawk, by means of a jess, so that the bird could be returned to an owner if it went astray. On one side, West Lavington Wilts is incised into the vervel in semi-italics. There are metal working marks on the underside, but otherwise no further decoration.
Dimensions: It is 12.27mm in diameter, with the central hole having a diameter of 6.5mm. The vervel is 1mm thick and weighs 0.67g.

A cast copper-alloy ring possibly of late Iron Age date to early Roman date. The ring is circular with a sub circular cross section. The ring has a dark and shiny patina and is undecorated. It is 21.90mm in diameter, the hoop is 2.02m thick. It weighs 1.70g.There is a small (c4mm) area of wear on the inside of the ring suggesting it may have been a pendant of some kind, although it is large enough to have been a finger ring.

An unusual complete cast copper alloy pendant, possibly from horse harness, of uncertain date, possibly Roman. It is basically drop-shaped or triangular, with an integral loop pierced from side to side at the apex. Below the loop is a collar and below that the pendant bellies out before tapering away to two slender downward hanging arms, each with a small rounded knop at the end. This creates a crescentic effect at the lower, wider end. The loop is 5.96mm in diameter, oval in section, the hoop 1.27mm thick. The item is 25.98mm in length, 4.64mm at greatest width and weighs 2.39g.

A complete cast copper alloy hooked mount, probably associated with a sword belt, dating to c AD 1500-1700. It consists of a pendant ring or loop, 12.46mm in diameter, hoop 2.56mm thick, oval in section, suspended from a traingular or arrow shape mount. The mount is a sheet of metal, slightly D shape in section, c 1.60mm thick, with an integral hook created by turning the tapered end upwards so that it is almost closed. The ring is thus held to it. An incomplete cast copper alloy rectangular buckle with recessed plate folded over the bar, dating to c1250 - 1400. The pin is missiing and there is no slot or cut in the plate to accommodate a pin and thus this may have been used as a clasp. There are two rivets in the plate, one centrally just below the strap bar, still holding the folded plate together, and another close to the attachment end. There are three transverse grooves on the front edge of the buckle - see Whitehead p27 no136.

An unidentified object of lead, possibly part of a cast double loop buckle dating to 15th century AD. What is extant is a curved moulded strip. On one end a sub rectangular decorated section ( c12.50 x 12.75mm), much like the decorative knops and roundels at the ends of the strap bars on early double loop buckles. The decoration is of raised hatched lines. The curve and upright of the rest of the item tapers from 8.85mm where it leaves the rectagular section to 5.50mm at the upper break. A copper-alloy medieval strap slide, dating to the period AD 1400 - 1550. The strap slide comprises a diamond or lozenge shaped plate with an integral loop on the back. The front of the strap slide is apparently undecorated, as is the back, although pitting and abraision may be disguising other marks. The loop on the back comprises a piece of copper alloy which is placed slightly off centre The patina is light green.
It is 20.65mm in length, 17.85mm in width. The loop 8.30mm across its base, c3.50mm in height. The item weighs 1.46g.

An incomplete Roman copper-alloy plate brooch of disc type, dating to the period AD 100-250. The brooch is circular in form with a central circular cell with raised rim for a boss, which was probablya glass, a stone or an enamel filling. On the underside there are the remains of the catch with the pin roll extant, a slightly raised ridge running across the diameter of the plate, and with a stub where the hinge of the pin would have been held. An incomplete cast copper-alloy post-medieval asymmetrical strap fitting with two integral lugs dating to AD 1600-1700. It is incomplete insofar as the integral lugs have broken off. It is broadly triangular in shape, with a knop extending from the broad end, the main body then tapering to a point along which there are four transverse lateral ridges. The item is D shape in section, that is with a flat underside and slightly convex upper surface. It measures 27.88mm in length, 10.14mm at maximum width and weighs 1.86g.
