An incomplete copper alloy Roman plate brooch, dating to the period c.AD 100-300. The brooch is oval in plan, with a raised oval rim at its centre, which would have held a stone or coloured glass.A series of concentric beaded bands surround the central oval bezel. Traces of guilding remain on the bands. The reverse exhibits the remains of the attachment for the pin, situated at the apex.
