Record ID: NMS-0D1BB3
Object type: ARROWHEAD
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Suffolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Late Neolithic chisel type arrowhead, made from an unpatinated tertiary flake of grey/brown flint; with the (now removed) bulb of percussion angled towards the right side of the ventral face of the broad cutting edge. The lateral edges expand from a 10 mm butt and are semi-invasively and bifacially flaked, and the cutting edge is similarly reouched only on the dorsal face, one corner of this edge is missing, presumably broken in antiquity as the break is glossy. Otherwise it is a good and large example of the type.

Record ID: NMS-0C2627
Object type: SCRAPER (TOOL)
Broad period: MESOLITHIC
County: Norfolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Small, possibly soft hammer struck tertiary scraper of unpatinated mid-grey flint with fine semi-invasive to steep retouch to almost all edges, including the platform. Small scrapers like this have been recorded from Mesolithic contexts as well as Early Bronze Age, this may be more likely to be from the the earlier period, if indeed it is soft hammer struck; there is a charictaristic lip on what remains of the ventral face of the platform, and no bulbal scar is present.

Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Norfolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Neolithic to Bronze Age tertiary hard hammer struck scraper :-of unpatinated dark grey and black flint with some lighter inclusions. The platform has four strike marks; the last blow finally detatched the flake for this tool. The distal end on the dorsal face has semi-invasive retouch to form the scraping edge with both lateral margins steeply retouched to blunt them.

Object type: PERFORATED OBJECT
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Norfolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Mesolithic to Early Bronze Age perforated water worn sub-trapezoidal pebble of grey Quartzite with a few slight scrapes of iron oxides, the slightly off-centre hole is formed by pecking a depression on both faces (circa. 30 mm diameter), and then drilled to join up, resulting in an 11 mm hour glass perforation. The two shorter lateral edges are battered and worn, otherwise the pebble is unmodified. "Mace heads" or pebble hammers are an enigmatic object type with many perceived uses, cf. NMS-6EA2F4 for a short discussion, also this was from the same finder, although from a different…

Possibly Mesolithic small opposed platform core of lightly patinated dark grey flint with three patches of cortex to the ventral face with flake scars struck from one edge and one end. The dorsal face has opposed blade-like flake scars overlapping at the mid-point; one has spread out and has terminated in a hinge, rendering further flake removals difficult.
