An irregular sherd of hard fired coarsware of uncertain date. It has a very hard fired surface leaving it pink with spar large angular flint inclusions and black sandy grit speckles moderately throughout. Oxidised seems heavy leaving the inside a dark grey colour. The outer faces seem to have been very heavily heat affected. Measurements: 43.08mm wide, 56.75mm high, 11.8mm thick, 24.40g in weight

A Roman ceramic sherd from a Samian ware vessel dating to the period c AD 43-260.  The sherd comprises a fragment from the side or body of the vessel vessel. The sherd is undecorated with very rare small limestone inclusions. The fabric is fine and orange in colour with a glossy orange-red slip on the outside (on both the inside and outside of the vessel), although it is worn chipped. It has relatively straight sides narrowing to a very thick bottom. Description: The sherd is irregularly shaped and has small handmade rim, little to no neck or shoulders with a large bulbous body. A small wheel thrown ceramic juglette likely from Iberia dating from the 17th-19th centuries in date. Description: The jug is quite small with a long body and high low angle shoulder and a narrow neck. The rim is beaded and very minorly flared, the pinching to form the spout is very subtle. A small sherd of probable Roman wheel thrown ceramic vessel dating. Description: The sherd is a medium sized rregular body sherd with clear striations indicating a wheel thrown vessel. The fabric is very hard with substantial mica speckling and with some mica intrusion into the inner fabric. The sherd has very jagged edges and is a dark grey colour indicating a heavily reducing kiln atmosphere, although the outside edge is browner particularly towards the base of the sherd while the upper edge is greyer. Description: The sherd represents part of the rim of a ceramic vessel with the rim surviving in full in one small place and not enough remains to suggest original diameter.
