An irregular sherd of hard fired coarsware of uncertain date.
It has a very hard fired surface leaving it pink with spar large angular flint inclusions and black sandy grit speckles moderately throughout. Oxidised seems heavy leaving the inside a dark grey colour. The outer faces seem to have been very heavily heat affected.

A very large chunk of handmade coarseware of uncertain date, later prehistoric to late medieval
The sherd is very think and likely from the body of the vessel. It has specks-small sand inclusion and grit throughout and the occasional large angular flint inclusion also. it is unevenly fired leaving it mottled mid-light grey to light brown

An irregular shed from a local coarsewar probably of later prehistoric to Roman date, c.1000BC-AD 260./
The sherd is ireggularly shaped and has inclusion specks of grit throughout and small-mid rounded flint throughout. It is heavily oxidised leaving it a dark grey colour.

it is and ireggularly shaped sherd probably from the base or body of the vessel. It has heavy inclusions with a large patch of angular shell temper as well as packe dsandy grit inclusions througout. it is poorly fired and oxidised leaving it a mottle very light grey-brown to light brown.

A Roman ceramic sherd from a Samian ware vessel dating to the period c AD 43-260.
The sherd comprises a fragment from the side or body of the vessel vessel. The sherd is undecorated with very rare small limestone inclusions. The fabric is fine and orange in colour with a glossy orange-red slip on the outside (on both the inside and outside of the vessel), although it is worn chipped. An incomplete ceramic hand made crucible.
Description: The crucible is missing at least its upper section if not its middle section also. It has relatively straight sides narrowing to a very thick bottom. Where visible and not covered by concretion, a vitreous later or adhering metallic slag the fabric is very porous and rough, with various small inclusions. Much of the surface has been heated so intensely that part of the inside and outside have vitrified. The metallic elements adhering to its inside were show by p-XRF to be mostly lead with some arsenic, iron and tin.

A sherd of hard fired earthenware dating c.1600-1900.
Discussion: The sherd is irregularly shaped with flat square rim, probably designed for a lid. The fabric is evenly oxidised though the surface is stained, the inclusions are varied and sparse, with anglular white grog.

A sherd of post medieval ceramic Frechen stoneware Bartmann "bearded man", or Bellarmine bottle, probalby dating to the 17th century.
Description: The sherd is irregularly shaped. The fabric has c. 10% medium quartz sand temper, pale slip on the inner side and mottled brown salt glaze on the outer face. The outer face exhibits trailed decoration, probably applied by via a decorating comb.

A fragment of green glazed ceramic post-medieval vessel, possibly a 16th or 17th century porringer executed in red Border Ware "Guys Ware"
Description: The fragment represents part of the upper body and rim of a vessel. The handle is complete but very stubby and has a splayed trifoliate shape. The upper surface has a mottled glaze of dark green through to light yellow-green green with very dark green spots. .The fabric is hard earthenware and is a strong even dark orange colour with spare mica inclusions. The breaks are rough and likely to have happened in recent time.
