A complete tombac (copper-zinc alloy) buckle of Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1690 - 1720. Description: The buckle frame is sub-rectangular with rounded corners and a D-shaped section. The frame is drilled for a separate spindle which holds in place the seperate pin and chape. The Pins is of simple single form and the chape is open and widens towards its outer edge and has one single short ininner spike. It has a dull silve-grey colour, the chape/pin slightly greener.. An incomplete copper-alloy double-looped spectacle buckle of medieval to post medieval date, c. AD 1350 - 1650. Description: Only one loop remains intact and the pin is missing. The remaining frame consists of one D-shaped loop and D-shaped in cross-section. The outer edge of the frame is bevelled and the back is flat. Measurements: 15.89mm length, 19.47mm wide, 1.87mm thick and 1.28g in weight. Discussion: The type is a ubiquitous find on the PAS database and Whitehead (1996, 54. A complete cast copper-alloy annular single loop buckle dating 1230-1450. Description: The buckle is formed from a large ring shaped frame, circular in cross-section. The pin is is folded around the frame and circular in cross-section. The pin is incomplete although no longer extends to the otherside of the frame.
