A heavily corroded and incomplete forged iron spear of uncertain date, possibly early-medieval (see discussion). Description: The spear head survives up to roughly half of the point which survives as stretched diamond shaped point. An extensive section of cylindrical shank remains and is evenly made. All the edges and original shapes are obscured by corrosion and it is not certain the spearhead ever had a socket. It has a dark brown to orange colour typical of corroded iron. An iron framed composite rimfire percussion cap single shot pistol of 19th century date. Possibly a Flobert style gallery gun/saloon/parlor gun dating c.1845-1900. Description: The pistol is heavily corroded with only the iron components left. The grip's organic parts are missing leaving it a thin openwork half crescent. The handle is integral to the frame of the pistol. The trigger is mostly missing due ot corrosion with no evidence of a trigger guard remaining. Two fragments of undated ferrous slag. The fragments are irregularly shaped with a slight patches of vitreous areas. Both frags have some rusty patches, one is much darker than the other perhaps due to increased carbon. Fragment 1: 37.49mm high, 35.39mm wide, 27.46mm thick and 31g in weight Fragment 2: 48.85mm long, 34.45mm wide, 21mm thick and 26.54g in weight. Both frags found in the vicinity of metalworking objects including ingots and crucible.

Description: The key has handle rectangular in plan and cross-section, rounded at one end to accommodate an integral pierced bow. From the handle extends a short circular shank which terminates with a key bit extending at right angles to the handle, original number of keys and the exact spacing is uncertain. An iron and gunpowder hand grenade or 'firebomb' dating to the 18th or 19th century, probably Napoleonic. Description: The grenade is formed from two half spheres of cast iron with a cylindrical section attached to the upper hemisphere. The upper cylindrical element has part of the original fuse still attached. Iron corrosion has corroded over most of the upper cylindrical section and the fuse and bloomed outwards on one side possbily due to corrosion or partial detonation. A worn iron sword pommel of Oakshott Type A, Petersen Type X, dating to c.950 - c.1200. Description: The pommel has a typical 'Brazil nut' shape, with a relatively high convex bottom faces and sides. The sides meet at a ridge along the top, leaving it sub triangular in cross section it has a rectangular slot in the base for attachment to the swords handle. It has highly pitted and increasingly flaky surface. Measurements: 63.06mm long, 35.43mm wide, 38.93mm high and 310g in weight.

An incomplete Medieval iron socketed arrowhead, dating 13th-14th century. Description: The arrowhead has a triangular blade and a cylindrical socket. The blade section tapers very gradually from the socket to the point, the bottom corners are heavily worn and it seems unlikely that it would have been barbed. The central spine is subtle and not well pronounced. Much of the point and socketted end are also missing. A heavily corroded whittle tang iron knife of likely Medieval date, c.1200-1500. Description: The knife has a blade with a diamond cross-section and slightly curved back which becomes more pronounced towards the point. The tang is clearly hammered and rectangular in cross-section. A near complete, cast iron, small cannon ball of the Post Medieval period, dating from c. AD 1550 - c.AD 1700. Description: The ball is spherical in plan and is broadly circular in section. There appears to be no casting seam present on the surface of the ball, however there is evidence of heavy iron corrosion in the form extensive irregularpitting across its surface. Precise diameter of the ball is unknown due to the unknown level of the iron corrosion. An incomplete muzzle loading Damask muzzle loading rifle or shotgun, dating to the 19th century. Description: The gun survives only as the barrel and part of the trigger mechanism. The barrel is polygonal and damask in form, meaning it has been formed by strips of steel and iron around a mandrel leaning to a 'Damascus Steel' style pattern. There is a a tip at the end of the barrel which may be the front sight. A highly corroded iron knife of likely Roman date, AD43-410. The back of the blade continues the line of the whittle tang until it drops to the tip. The blade edge runs from a right angled heel straight before rising gently ot the tip. The blade is V section. The tang appears to have been created from a rolled part sheet iron which leaves a slight groove down the left side. Much of the knife's detail is obscured by light orangey-brown corrosion with substantial ingrained dirt. Measurements:197mm long, 27.47mm wide (blade), 11.38mm wide (shank), thick 7.98mm and 95.26g in weight

Two pieces of slag (1,3) and one fragment of unidentified metalworking debris (2), all metalworking by-products. The slag is irregular in shape and has many broken edges, slag piece 1 also has some smooth surfaces indicative of tap slag. The fragment of metal debris (2) is an irregular rectangle in shape with pitted surfaces on each side, each edge is rough but abraded which suggests it was part of a larger whole but was broken off in antiquity.
