A fragment of probable gold ingot of uncertain date.
Description: The fragment has a sub-rectangular cross section that has flattened upper and lower faces and convex sides. At each end, the piece has been snipped by metal tools. It also has marks on the upper and lower face has additional snip marks. Ingot shows some evidence of hammering into shape.
Measurements: 9.67mm long, 7.3mm wide, 2.38mm thick and 1.33g in weight.

Description: It is snipped (in a pincer-like or ‘chisel-cut’ way) on either end. The object has a sub-hexagonal cross-section.
Dimensions: Length: 18mm; Width: 6mm; Thickness: 4.5mm; Weight: 4.32g
Metal composition: Non-destructive X-ray fluorescence analysis of a gold bar fragment by the British Museum, indicated a surface composition of approximately 81-83% gold, 14-16% silver, the rest being largely copper. See appended report.

Description: Obverse: Ship going left. Legend: 'CAR.II.D.G.M.B.FR.ET.HI.REX'. Reverse: St. George slaying the dragon. Reverse Legend: 'SOLI.DEO.GLORIA.' The touch piece is pierced just off 12 o'clock of the obverse and detail remains sharp
