A copper-alloy La Tène III type brooch dating from the 1st Century BC- 1st century AD (Hattatt 1987, 22). The brooch consists of a thin bow roughly ovoid in section which turns a near righ end down toward the spring. The spring/pin, which would orignally have been an integral continutation of the bow coiled around on itself has been broken off halfway through the second coil. At the foot end a simple catchplate remains, although it has been flatted out from its orignal shape. The brooch is a deep turquoise in colour as a result of copper-alloy patination. The brooch was produced f…

Complete post-medieval copper alloy pedestal/pendant seal matrix dating to the 17th century (Read 2001, 75). The seal matrix is a conical shape with a narrow circular shank which widens at the top to a trefoil flat shaped handle, which is pierced by four holes, a larger one in the central lobe, with three smaller holes in a line below, one in each of the other lobes and a third in the centre. These were probably to accommodate a chain or cord to allow the seal to be carried about the neck or secured about the person. At the base the matrix widens significantly to accommodate the die o…

A copper alloy conical seal matrix dating to the 14th century. It has a hexagonally faceted conical handle which tapers before widening slightly below a flattened pierced terminal, probably to accommodate a chain or cord to allow the seal to be carried about the neck or secured about the person. An incomplete cast copper-alloy Post Medieval (c. 1500-1700) crotal bell. Approximately two third of the entire bell remains, minus the iron pea. The bell comprises two hemispherical domes divided by a raised circumferential ridge. The upper hemisphere has two circular sound holes (only one remains complete, with the missing section of bell appearing to have snapped off through the other remaining hole in the upper hemispheres) with a small square suspension loop projecting from the apex of the upper dome, the hole of which has been drilled rather than cast. The lower hemisphere has a…
