A copper alloy openwork knife end cap, of likely post-medieval date. The cap is roughly rectangular in plan, slightly widening and thinning to the terminal end which is slightly rounded. The central plain is taken up with an openwork heart shaped cell within which is a lis shape which points from the attachment end to the point of the heart. At the attachment end there is a thin slot in which remains of the iron tang that it would have been attatched are present. A cast early Roman copper-alloy Colchester derivative, rear hook brooch with rearward hook pin mechanism, dating to c.AD 43-60.
Description: The brooch has open semi-circular cross sectioned wings which are missing the spring and pin. The wings have an incised line around their circumference immediately prior to their terminals. The bow is semi-circular in cross section and has a narrow ridge running its length. An incomplete cast early Roman copper-alloy Colchester derivative, rear hook bow brooch, dating to c.43-60 AD.
Description: The brooch has open semi-circular cross sectioned wings which would have encompassed the now missing spring and pin. The wings are undecorated. A small incomplete cast early Roman copper-alloy brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill type (Mackreth Group 6, Eastern Group). Rearward hook pin mechanism, dating to c.AD 43-100.
Description: The brooch has open semi-circular cross sectioned wings which are mostly missing the spring and pin. What remains of the spring and pin are a few curls and a corroded nub of pin, all iron.
