A medieval silver penny of Henry I (1100-35); Smaller Profile / Cross and Annulets type. Minted c. 1119. North (1994) No 868, BMC type XII. Possibly minted by the moneyer Ravenswar/Ravenswert at Hereford.
Measurements: 16.45mm in diameter, 0.96mm thick 1.19g in weight.
Discussion: This coin type (BMC type XII) is not previously known to have been issued at the Hereford mint. The reverse of this coin appears to read +[__]V[_]AR:ON:hER, It is possible that original reading would have been [RA]V[ENS]AR:ON:hER.
