Penny is highly worn especially on the reverse, little legend remains discernable thus mint and moneyer are uncertain Measurements:13.32mm (orignal diameter when complete) x 11.57mm, 0.75mm thick and 0.47g in weight.

A fragment of a silver Early-Medieval penny of Archbishop Ceolnoth (833-870), Group I (c.839-c.844; North 241; Naismith C105), mint: Canterbury, moneyer: Wynhere. Monogram issue. Ref: North 1994: 79; cf. Naismith 2016, nos 784-8). Obverse. Tonsured Bust Facing. Legend:'[+CIA]LNO/[D ARC(EPIS)]'. Reverse: DORO CIV in cruciform monogram. Legend: '[+]VV[ ]'. The coin has been stained by Iron oxide and survives as roughly a third of the coin but only a quarter of the outer flan. Measurements: 12.97mm long, 10.52mm wide, 0.93mm thick and 0.33g in weight.

Ref: Lyons and Mackay 2007. About a third of the coin is missing and its green discolouration indicates the low levels of silver in the coin and high copper content. Measurements: 19.52mm in diameter, 1.02mm thick and 0.82g in weight.

An incomplete and abraded early-medieval silver penny of Offa of Mercia (757-96), Light Coinage (c.765-92), Moneyer: Babba (Chick 91/Blunt 6/north 267), mint: Canterbury. Ref: Chick 2010: 101, plate 13. The coin is in poor condition much of its edge and one more substantial fragment. It is cracked in four places (seen vertically on the reverse most clearly) ,appearing to be fold marks although whether this is from pre- or post-deposition activity is hard to gauge.
