Object type: HARNESS PENDANT
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Buckinghamshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A complete cast copper alloy harness pendant of medieval date. The pendant is square with no discernable decoration surviving the corrosion of time. From the centre of the top edge projects an oval transverse suspension loop with a central circular piercing. The centre of this piercing has been sealed closed most likely by rusting of the iron pin from which the pendant was suspended. The main square of the pendant has been bent in numerous places, perhaps by plough. It likely dates from the 13th to the 14th century

Object type: TOKEN
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Central Bedfordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A Medieval or Post Medieval cast lead alloy circular uniface token. Powell Type 30. The token is decorated on one side with five pellets arranged with four forming corners of a square with the fifth pellet roughly in the centre. The reverse surface is flat and undecorated. Lead and its alloys are very easy to work and tokens were often locally produced; therefore they are difficult to date and tokens with simple designs had considerable longevity. There are dated generally from c. 1250-1800 AD.

Object type: SUNDIAL
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Buckinghamshire

An incomplete copper-alloy post medieval portable sundial. This example is of the simple ring type. It is formed of a flat copper-alloy ring with a rectangular channel cut in the centre for about a third of its circumference; this would have contained a separate sliding collar, which is missing. On the external surface, above and below the channel, there are inscribed measurement lines, above which are the first letters of the months of the year: 'I F M A M I' (the earlier months) above and 'I A S O N D' (the later months) below, upside down. The outer surface is worn and corroded.…
