Record ID: PUBLIC-CABF3C
Object type: BULLA
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Leicestershire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Possible papal bulla, dating to the medieval period. A 5.2mm thick lead disc measuring c35.5mm in diameter (33.0 - 36.8mm), and weighing 43.4g. Both sides are corroded and covered in thick white patination, and no detail is visible. The dimensions and presence of marks on the circumferential edge where the cord would have been attached lead me to believe this is probably a bulla seal, but it could be something else.
