A Roman cast copper alloy bow brooch Dolphin (Hinged type). The wings are hollow and hold the hinge support bar, there is a rearwards facing slot in the middle of the wings for the pin, now missing. The brooch retains part of the axis hinge mechanism and the bow is semi circular (bent to the middle section). The right wing is not complete whilst the left is in tact and shows evidence of the hinge. There are no definable mouldings on the wings or bow. A cast copper alloy spherical bell ( a rumble bell). produced between the 13th -18th Century. This example based on the shape of the suspension loop dates to around the last quarter of the 17th Century or possible later. Spherical in shape with transverse ridge (seam) where the two halves have been joined. There are two circular sound holes in the top section and two additonal sound holes connected by a slit in the lower section. The bell contains an Iron pea. Dark grey green in colour, Decoration - Plain The bell measures 28mm wide 35mm high and weighs 20gms
