A silver-gilt composite dress hook. The back-plate is heart-shaped in plan and the border is serrated and pushed upward to hold the body, which rises away from the back-plate as a cushion. The surface of the cushion is covered in a field of filigree circlets which surround a larger filigree circle at the centre. Inside the large circle are three more, smaller filigree circlets. At the point where these three circlets meet, which is the centre of the body, projects a collet framing a black-coloured (niello?) knop. An incomplete circular gold and garnet setting. It comprises a circular gold sheet back-plate to which has been soldered a domed framework of cells, made from upright strips of gold sheet. The framework has a central circular cell, which connects to three outer semi-circular cells. Between two of these is a straight cell wall, two more of which are probably missing from between the other semi-circular cells. All are now empty.
