The ring would have originally been circular in shape but has been broken at one point along the ring and squashed such that it now has an irregular sub-oval shape in the form of a "U". The hoop is D-shaped in cross section, with a slightly convex outer side and a flat inner side. Treasure case 2017 T813; disclaimed, returned to finder Description: A silver gilt late medieval finger ring. The ring comprises of a flat band of silver, with three circumferential ribs and the suggestion of a join, although this has been well finished and obscured by gilding. A spot of copper alloy corrosion, presumably from a solder, is also visible on the surface at the probable join. A large quatrefoil-shaped bezel has been applied to the hoop at the join, this too is gilded, and with each lobe incised to resemble the mid-rib and veins of a leaf. The hoop of the ring has been…

Early Medieval silver penny of Athelstan I of East Anglia (c.825-c.845), Portrait type, short cross pattee with a wedge in each angle reverse (new variant), minted by Monn, probably at Ipswich, c.827-830 AD, North (1994:103) 436var. The coin is damaged with c.15-20% of the outer circle missing due to an old break to one side. The reverse type on this coin is similar to those on the non portrait types north 441 and 445 (BMC 6).
