The stem has a sub-square cross section with a patinated break at the end opposite the acorn terminal where the bowl is missing. The end of the acorn is rounded and pointed into a small projection at the tip. The cup is decorated with diagonal cross hatching. There are traces of gilding on the acorn and cup. Post medieval silver openwork buckle frame, probably a shoe buckle, dating to AD 1769 to 1793. The buckle frame is oval and distinctly arched with the short edges (top and bottom edges) convex curved. The buckle was in two pieces when found, about a quarter had become detached, and has been repaired with the solder visible on the back. The front is decorated with a moulded design of four quatrefoils flanked by scrolling and openwork. One flower is in the centre of each side. The ring is flat in section with a flat bezel. Too little of the bezel remains to recognise its shape, although it was probably oval. The remaining shoulder tapers in width away from the bezel, one edge appears complete and is slightly convex, the other is broken. The handle is faceted, hexagonal in cross section, tapering from the face of the seal into a double banded transverse collar at the juncture between the handle and loop.
