Roman copper alloy vessel mount in the form of a janiform male bust. The mount is nearly complete with a break across the attachment loop at the base. The front is formed of a full bust with head and widened shoulders. A slot runs up through the head from the base and the back is formed of a second face which ends at the chin with no shoulders. A groove runs across the top of the head dividing the two faces. Both faces have moulded hair formed of regular semi-circular projections divided by grooves giving a scalloped appearence. Post Medieval cast copper alloy trade weight from the reign of James II (1685-1688). The weight is circular and flat with no rim. The front has a centring dimple surrounded by an incised circle and the back has file marks across it. The weight is 14.1mm in diameter by 2.9mm thick and weighs 2.69 grams, 0.95 oz. It was probably originally an eighth (0.125) of an ounce (two drams) with some weight lost to corrosion.
