Treasure case 2017 T1184: Disclaimed returned to finder Description: A medieval silver penny which has been modified to form an item of jewellery. The coin was pierced twice, at 11 and 1'oclock on the obverse, (5 and 7 o'clock on the reverse) with sub-circular piercings, one drilled from each side. One hole has cracked through to the edge. The other hole is worn into an oval shape. There are also traces of gilding around some of the letters on the reverse. Fragment of a medieval copper alloy single-loop buckle frame. The frame was originally pentagonal in shape with half of the outer edge consisting of two of the five sides remaining. The other two sides and the strap bar are missing to old breaks. The sides are D-shaped in section with a convex front and flat back. The remaining stub of the cross bar suggests it was thinned. Early Medieval copper alloy and garnet sword pyramid, a type of mount probablyused on the scabbard straps. It is square in shape with a base measuring 14.0 by 13.6mm, narrowing over its 6.8mm height to a 4.4 by 4.7mm apex set with a garnet. On the underside it is hollow to a depth of 4.1mm. A 3.9mm wide band runs across the centre of the hollow, level with the base. Each of the four sides is decorated in the same way. Post Medieval copper alloy finger ring with posy inscription on the inner side. The ring has a D-shaped section and is formed of a strip soldered together at the ends. The join is visible and the white metal solder now projects, probably as the surface it used to abut has corroded away. The inscription is worn but reads 'I loue V til death' (I love you until death) in italic script. There are no traces of gilding visible but the exterior surface in patricular is very corroded. The hoop is distorted to an oval shape, 26.0mm by 14.8mm, 4.2mm wide and 1.7mm thick. It weighs 2.39 grams.…
