A worn copper alloy cutlery (knife or fork) handle of post-medieval (c. 17th century) date. The handle, which has a broadly oval profile, has been cast in the form of a crowned lion, which is standing on his hind legs and holding a shield. Object type: STRAP FITTING
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Somerset
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
An incomplete cast copper alloy sword belt fitting of post-medieval date. The surviving portion comprises the lower part of an openwork mount, which has a backwards curving hook at the lower end. This contains a ring. The lower hole appears to contain a small lump of iron corrosion and this was therefore presumably a rivet hole. When complete, the fitting was probably similar to no. 357 in Brian Read's 'Metal Artefacts of Antiquity' (2002, p. 42).

A complete but very worn copper alloy coin weight of post-medieval date. The coin weight is square and flat, measuring 19mm by 18.4mm by 4.7mm. It weighs 10g.
