A spiral shaped ring possibly a finger ring formed from a length of cast copper alloy of probable later prehistoric or early Roman date. The ring is in the form of a close and thick spiral of just over two complete turns, 4.9mm in width and 3.3mm thick. It weighs 14.7g. The ring has been distorted but formerly had an external diameter of about 24mm. Its cross-section is rectangular with rounded corners. A cast copper alloy harness pendant of medieval date. The cinquefoil pendant measures 50.5mm by 55.5mm by 3.8mm and weighs 25.18g. It consists of five lobes; the lower four are square with rounded corners and the upper arm narrows towards an integral suspension loop, which is turned through 90 degrees. The loop is broken and one of the lower lobes has been bent backwards. The front of the pendant is decorated with blue enamel. A cast copper-alloy drop handle lug which probably formed part of a chafing dish of late medieval or post-medieval date. Similar handle lugs were also used for small chests and casks. The lug measures 21.8mm by 14.1mm by 9.1mm, and weighs 13.24g. It is in the form of a flat oval cylinder, which has a central circular perforation (diameter 7.8mm) and a flared end from which projects the remains of an integral rivet. A fragment from a enamelled cast copper alloy Crescentic terret of probable late Iron Age date. The fragment measures 36.8mm by 24.6mm by 12.1mm and weighs 18.44g. It consists of part of the hoop and a 10mm length of the cast-in-one copper alloy bar, which is narrowed with a circular cross-section (diameter 6.2mm). Beside the bar the hoop has a sub-circular cross-section (diameter 11.9mm). This narrows to around 6mm internally, with a flat rectangular cross-sectioned exterior, much of which has been damaged. A fragment of gold strip tapering to a narrow, rounded end which is pierced, pushing excess gold through to the back. The long edges are flattened. The broken edge appears to be torn. The piece is slightly crumpled and distorted. Length 21.2mm; width 9.5mm; thickness 0.5mm at edge; weight 0.86 grams. Non-destructive X-ray flourescence analysis of the fragment indicated a surface composition in the range of 87-90% gold, 8-10% silver and less than 1% copper. The brooch's head-plate has a convex upper edge with a small semi-circular knop which protrudes from the centre. Below, the side edges each have a large semi-circular cut-out creating small arms below; each of the arms has a V-shaped notch at the outer edge. The implement, which was presumably formerly straight but is now bent into a curve (current length 57.06mm), consists of a suspension loop at one end (diameter 12.58mm), a stem with a circular cross section (diameter 2.65mm) and a small flattened oval scoop at the other end. A cast copper alloy continental plate brooch of early Roman date. The brooch is in the form of a twelve pointed star. In each point of the star two motifs alternate, depressed circles with central rivets, and fern leaves made up from incised lines. These are arranged around a larger concave circle, again with a central rivet. The rivets would have held bone discs in place, although all are missing from this example.
