Three body sherds of hand-made pottery of Middle Bronze Age date. The sherds have been fired an orangey brown oxidised colour on the exterior surfaces and a reduced grey black on the interior. The fabric is very hard with a slight soapy feel and laminated fractures. The clay matrix contains a moderate to common (25-30%) amount of very well-sorted sub-rounded quartz grains measuring less than 0.25mm. A cast copper alloy small long brooch of Early Medieval date. The brooch measures 73.82mm in length, 22.72mm in width and 17.06mm in depth. It weighs 13.91g. The brooch's head-plate has a convex upper edge with a small semi-circular knop which protrudes from the centre. 388 sherds of hand made south-east Dorset black burnished 1 pottery of Roman date. The sample comprises 33 base sherds, 91 rim sherds, 259 body sherds and 5 handle fragments. Of the rims, 21 come from flanged bowls, twelve are from plain shallow bowls ('dog dishes'), 9 are from everted rimmed jars, 28 are from vessels with bead rims and 21 are flared or hooked. The fabric is generally hard-fired and reduced, although some sherds have oxidation on the surfaces. It is tempered with abundant grains of rounded white quartz. Total weight: 3377g

The gritty earthenware fabric is tempered with Upper Greensand-derived angular chert and flint (up to 2-3mm), rounded quartz, red mudstone and limestone (up to 1mm). Most of the sherds have oxidised orange surfaces and a reduced grey core, although two are externally oxidised, with reduced cores and internal surfaces and two others are more comprehensively oxidised. An unglazed rim sherd from an wheel-made jug of thirteenth to fifteenth century date. The rim is flat and slightly flared, with a lid seat. A sherd from the handle of a wheel-made jug of late thirteenth to early fifteenth century date. The strap handle is externally glazed with a greenish-brown copper glaze and has been slashed several times with a knife to allow the heat to penetrate during firing and prevent explosion. The sandy earthenware fabric has an oxidised orange surfaces and a reduced grey core. This sherd is probably a south Somerset product, from Donyatt or a nearby production centre. The sherd has an external yellow lead glaze which has a darker stripe of iron (probably originally set vertically) on one side. On the ventral surface at the proximal end are the striking platform and the bulb of percussion. Ripples radiate from this point down the flake. On the dorsal surface there are a number of flaking scars and one side and the distal end have been retouched to form a side and end scraper. The light to mid grey flint has a mid-gloss patina.
