An incomplete and rather squashed Early Post-Medieval (1600-1700) silver thimble formed of sheet silver 0.51mm thick. The ends would have originally been soldered to form a continuous circle but the ends are now not joined. The thimble is probably missing its top which would have been made separately and soldered into place and below where the top would have been part of the wall of the thimble has broken away (probably recent damage).

Description: Silver vervel of Lewis and Richardson's type C.ii. A silver ring of trapezoidal cross-section, with a plain, flat, outer face. A shield- shaped plate is attached vertically with solder to the exterior of the ring where it joins and is flattened into a rectangular section. The back of the plate is plain, and the front bears an image of a two-legged horned and winged creature, probably a wyvern, standing left on a torse.

A fragment of Later Post-Medieval (1700-1800) four-part silver cosmetic set, consisting of the top element of four tools pierced and held together with a sheet silver U-shaped hinge by a single silver rivet. The two inside arms now extend to either side, giving the present dimensions of 21.94mm long, 18.10mm wide and 6.57mm thick. With the arms closed it would measure 7.65mm in width. It weighs 3.40g.
The outer two elements are D-shaped in cross-section with moulded decoration, consisting of a quatrefoil with a single collar above and double collar below (at the recent breaks). The …
