Incomplete & abraded small copper-alloy bell with remains of iron clapper, perhaps a dress fitting. Conical with circular base and convex sides, surviving height 28mm, diameter. approximately 20mm. At the apex an incomplete flat-section lug or handle has three curved cut-outs, one of which (at one side) looks intact and is three-quarters circular. The uppermost one may be incomplete and originally for suspension. No parallel example has been found, but in terms of size and general form it is closest to Roman bells of the 1st century AD, which tend to be circular and with convex sides…

Gilded silver early Post Medieval pin, complete with bent shaft and filigree-decorated head. Published in the Treasure Annual Report for 2000 (TAR 2000, 94, no. 170). The description there is as follows: "16th century. Silver-gilt dress-pin with hollow-cast spherical head. The head is applied with filigree ornament. Surface heavily tarnished. 70mm length. Disclaimed."

Silver hooked tag, one pierced attachment lobe and the hook missing. The plate is circular (diameter 17mm) and a dome-headed rivet passes through the centre. An equal- and expanding armed cross is made from four arcs set within an engraved circular border. The triangular arms of the cross are decorated with fine dots (known as speckling or pecking) and the spaces between them are occupied by four shield-shaped fields containing an engraved design of a pair of leaves sitting on a semi-circle base; the design resembles a fleur-de-lis. Niello inlay remains in many of the engraved lines. …

Silver head-dress pin or bodkin of rectangular section, complete but bent into a tight S-shape. The terminal is a thistle with a possible crown on top, the crown pierced with a circular hole. Below are two rectangular slots with an engraved rosette between two pairs of transverse grooves. Below this the pin has bevelled edges and some geometric zigzag triangle engraving. Front and back are decorated identically. 47mm compressed length. Dutch, early C17. Published in TAR 2000, no. 199.

Triangular fragment of gilded silver, perhaps from a brooch, with indeterminate cast counter-relief decoration of birds’ heads or foliage. X-ray fluorescence analysis conducted at the British Museum indicated an approximate silver content of 96 per cent. Published in TAR 2001, no. 170, where it says: "Not earlier than 1700"; it was thought on first recording to be possibly medieval.

Double mouth moulding, of which the upper is more prominent while the lower is little more than a low ridge. The loop projects from the groove between the mouldings. Descending from the lower moulding are four raised ribs in two groups of two separated by a 10mm gap in the centre. The two outermost ribs follow a furrow which emphasises the edge of the rectangular-sectioned body, but which slightly curves. Unusual gilded AE unidentified object. Domed (diam.21mm, height 10.5mm), with open-work decoration filled with blue glass paste. Slightly squashed and incomplete. The open-work motifs consist of a circle at the apex, then four equal-sized ovoids above four equal-sized sub-rectangles. The lower edges of the latter are serrated. Where the glass has survived (in about one third of the underside of the dome-of the surviving part of the glass filling, the material adjacent to the metal is darkish blue translucent while that towards the centre is paler blue and opaque- it lies tight up agai…

Fragment of a crescentic, possibly a flat-ring terret? The central channel, which has one raised circle, may have originally contained enamel. When complete, the decoration on terrets is generally symmetrical. This example is only decorated on one side. 14mm wide, 2mm thick. A 1st century BC/AD date seems most likely.
