Part of a rectangular lead plaque with inscription on both faces. 20-21mm wide & at least 39mm long, one end curled over & finishing in a ragged break. The inscription is inscribed in a cursive hand. On one face there are three lines of Latin text, with an initial cross & other crosses between words. The other face carries four lines of less firmly inscribed & smaller letters. The object has been examined by Paul & Elizabeth Rutledge who have kindly provided the following tentative transcription & comments:

Gold and sapphire medieval finger-ring. Oval bezel, flat at back, with milled border. Central raised sub-oval collet with pale to mid blue stone still in place (termed 'sapphire' in the Treasure Annual Report, so perhaps analysed at the British Museum). Bezel of a noticeably redder gold than hoop. Plain slender flat-section hoop which appears to be soldered to the bezel at the shoulders. Height 23mm max. Width 18mm max. Probably 13th century.

Triangular fragment of gilded silver, perhaps from a brooch, with indeterminate cast counter-relief decoration of birds’ heads or foliage. X-ray fluorescence analysis conducted at the British Museum indicated an approximate silver content of 96 per cent.
Published in TAR 2001, no. 170, where it says: "Not earlier than 1700"; it was thought on first recording to be possibly medieval.

Unusual gilded AE unidentified object. Domed (diam.21mm, height 10.5mm), with open-work decoration filled with blue glass paste. Slightly squashed and incomplete. The open-work motifs consist of a circle at the apex, then four equal-sized ovoids above four equal-sized sub-rectangles. The lower edges of the latter are serrated. Where the glass has survived (in about one third of the underside of the dome-of the surviving part of the glass filling, the material adjacent to the metal is darkish blue translucent while that towards the centre is paler blue and opaque- it lies tight up agai…
