Fragment of a cast tinned copper-alloy buckle, comprising an incomplete T-shaped frame with short integral rectangular-sectioned plate with transverse rib before a terminal loop in the same plane. The plate is slotted to accommodate a rectangular-sectioned copper alloy pin, with knop or grip, which is hinged on a separate spindle inserted into a drilled perforation. Incomplete Roman cast possible pendant in the form of a dolphin modelled in the round, above a tapering, segmented, round-sectioned spike (the point missing). There are traces of incised pointed-oval eyes and a moulded mouth, the end of the body curls up and probably forward but is broken across the bend. If a pendant then then dolphin may have been supported by its curled tail or by a loop attached to the tail. Extant height 24mm. Length 18mm. Thickness 6.5mm. Weight 4.82g.
