A cast lead-alloy seal matrix of medieval date. On the lower surface is a longitudinal ridge with a broken loop at one end (corresponding with the start of the inscription on the obverse); the ridge flattens at the other end. If the matrix …

A zoomorphic cast copper-alloy spout probably from a ewer of later medieval or early post-medieval date. The spout is tubular and terminates in a dog's head with open mouth; the tube spout protrudes from the open mouth (internal diameter: c. 5.2mm). At the other end it curves through ninety degrees downwards, and expands into a long, pointed neck where it would have joined the vessel (it is tear shaped in cross-section). The surface that would have joined is covered in file marks. The head has a moulded nose, prominent, squared brow, and rectangular grooved ears that protrude slightly …

A cast copper-alloy medieval figurine depicting a female figure. The object is moulded in relief on the upper surface; the curving lines on the lower surface suggest that is was made in a cuttlefish mould. The figure stands left, with drapes of a full-length robe moulded. Their head is inclined left with hair and facial features delineated. The right arm is brought up to the left shoulder, perhaps clasping the breast. The lower surface has a short longitudinal ridge at the centre of the base (L.: c. 7.6mm) which may have aided attachment; otherwise there are no obvious means of attac…

An incomplete wrought copper-alloy Iron Age/Roman La Tène III, Nauheim derivative brooch dating to the 1st century AD (max. H.: c. 17.5mm). At the head of this one-piece brooch type the spring has been truncated before any of the coils begin; the pin has also been lost as a result. From the head the bow curves through ninety degrees to a main, shallowly curved element with rectangular cross-section. As this section begins the brooch expands, attaining a maximum width of 6.45mm. Beyond the element is broadly trapezoidal in form; indeed, from this point the brooch narrows to the survivi…

A corroded and incomplete cast copper-alloy mid 1st century AD Roman probable dolphin type brooch, as derived from the Colchester type. The bow curves through over ninety degrees and expands into the bulbous head which is obscured by corrosion product but appears to have been perforated for a hinged pin. Orange corrosion product at the head and on the underside of the extant wing suggests the composition of the missing pin and axis bar. The other wing has been broken off at the head. The surviving wing extends for c. 8.2mm to the side of the head. It appears to be undecorated, althoug…
