Cast lead alloy ampulla fragment dating from the medieval period, that is c. late 12th-14th century. Only the lower part of the body survives with fluted mouldings on one side and what looks like the remains of a moulded circle on the other. The complete ampulla had a flat-rectangular neck and a sub-circular body and two handles. One side of the body may have been decorated with a floral or star motif within a double circle, as seen, e.g. on LANCUM-F68AD4, the other cast in the shape of the scallop, the sympol of St James of Santiago de Compostela in Spain, a well-known shrine and des…
