A copper alloy dolphin brooch with undecorated wings partly enclosing the corrosion from the top of the iron pin. A narrow rib rises from the spring anchoring lug and runs a short way (10.5mm) down the triangular sectioned bow. The catchplate is present but the way the brooch had been mounted meant that it was not possible to see the foot.

From the hook springs a V shape of deep mouldings of which four alternate ones have transverse lines cut in then. From the opening of the V springs the main part of the bow. This is plain but for three transverse mouldings at the foot. The catchplate is compleat.

A worn and flattened copper alloy Hod Hill brooch. The wings consist of the top T shape, folded over on itself, with a slot cut out for the now missing pin. The bow of the brooch consists of a panel with linear moulding then an undecorated panel with triangular extensions and a small knop on each side. This is edged with two transverse mouldings from which spring the splayed foot of the brooch. On the reverse only part of the catchplate survives. This decorative layout is slightly different from the usual Hod Hill brooch in that the side knops are often on the upper linear moulded area…

This is enclosed in a plain band and this is framed by a border of inward pointing chevrons with pellets at each apex. The two perforated lugs that held the pin and part of the catchplate can be seen on the reverse of the brooch. (see Hattatt p 344 no 1562)

A worn copper-alloy tutulus brooch (Hattatt, ref 539). A circular plate brooch, 28.2mm in diameter, that has a raised outer rim with six small lugs, spaced at regular intervals around the outside edge. Four of these lugs are purely decorative, but two lugs directly opposite each other, are integrally moulded with, and conceal, the pin housing and the catchplate. Just inside the raised rim are a pair of shallow concentric grooves incised upon a hollow conical body (approx 1.5mm thick) which rises 8mm and terminates in a flat central disk 9mm dia. This central disk is punctuated with a r…

A copper alloy umbonate brooch with a convex circular central area. This is decorated with two concentric circles of blue enamelled triangles around a central hollow 2mm in diameter. This is surrounded by a flat border with seven circular lugs which have a raised circle around a depression. Two of the depressions have worn through and another lug is broken across the hole. The hinged pin and catchplate are present on the concave back. Bayley & Butcher (2004 p173)suggests that these umbonate brooches were popular in the 1st century AD.

A copper alloy dolphin brooch with a hinged pin. The wings [38.93 across] have traces of transverse moulding but the bow is very pitted and so any decoration there may have been has gone. The catchplate is present but incomplete. A similarly hinged brooch was found at Richborough (Bayley & Butcher 2004 p89-90 no 206) and is dated to the late 1st century.

Three colour coated (2 bases and 1 rim) sherds. The smaller of the base sherds is a pinkisk buff fabric with a black colour coat and may be a product of Colchester whereas the other two sherds are from a much thicker walled straight sided bowl in an off white fabric with traces of a brown colour coat. The latter fragments were made in the 2nd-4th century, Nene Valley kilns.

Four abraded sherds of pinkish buff, sandy pottery, consisting of a motarium rim; a bowl rim; a flagon base and a flagon neck. The mortarium sherd is broken off above the level of the grits, so it is not possible to use the evidence of their colour to identify the source of production. The flagon sherds are not diagnostic.
