Spherical cobalt blue glass bead. Probably post-med. Chipped in many places. Hole through centre is not completely central, and is slightly mishapen on one side. Hand made. Traces of metal on the inside of the hole suggest manufacture method may have been by winding glass around a metal wire. Or it may have been strung on a wire during use.

A cast Iron cross, with wood inlay. Post-medieval date and christian in style. At top of iron cross is a hoop. On face side of cross, three strips of wood have been inlaid - one long strip on the vertical axis, and two for each arm of the cross. There are four rivets holding the wood to the iron base - one is fixed to the bottom of the cross, and the other three are spaced equally across the arms of the cross. Wood has oxidized and traces of green corrosion on two of the rivets indicate that these may be copper alloy. The rivets can be seen coming through to the back of the cross, whic…

Upper portion of a cast copper alloy enamelled Roman brooch. Part of pin still attatched to a pin-bar-lug and moves freely. One end of lug is damaged/corroded to reveal the pin-bar. From the lugs, the brooch narrows steeply, but main body part is broken, and so the exact type of tool/pendant is unknown. Front of brooch is decorated with 5 square enamelled panels; 3 across the lugs and two down the front, decorated alternately in blue and red enamel. This is possibly a pendant from a Chatelaine brooch set. However, following comments from Donald Mackreth, there is no reason this cann…
