North and Brand date the Rhuddlan coins to c.1180-c.1190 due to similarities between Rhuddlan Class i and Short Cross Class I, but Rhuddlan coins do not appear in hoards containing only Class I coins. They first appear in the Ashton hoard dating to the early 1190s, which suggests that the mint opened in c.1190 (Mass, 2001, 63).

A silver post-medieval groat of Mary I (1553-1554), minted at the Tower of London, 1553-1554 (North 1960). The coin has creases on it suggesting that it was folded and has been unfolded and flattened by the finder. It is unclear if this folding was intentional or caused by movement in the plough soil.

Two segments have been removed from the coin leaving a roughly triangular piece, which encompasses most of the central area of the coin along with part of the inscribed edge. The coin appears to have then been rolled up, but a recent break has caused the last segment to separate from the rest of the coin, leaving it in two pieces.
