Copper-alloy thimble, now corroded and missing its top. The rim appears to be thickened but square or rectangular in cross-section; the indentations also appear to be basically square or rectangular, perhaps tapering to to a pyramidal point in the centre. As the top is missing, it is possible that this thimble was originally an open-topped sewing ring. 15th or 16th century.
