An incomplete cast copper-alloy miniature toy cannon dating to c.1675 - 1725. Cast in one piece, and broken at the muzzle end, the cannon comprises an elongated bulbous cascable, a vent field, which has a concave profile with the vent hole having a large aperture, this vent is sometimes referred to as a 'touch-hole', two moulded reinforce rings surround the barrel which gently tapers from the vent towards the muzzle, two trunnions, which are round in section, project from a collar just past the midway point nearer the muzzle along the barrel length. A cast copper-alloy zoomorphic duck figurine, possibly a vessel mount dating to the Roman period. The body is convex and sub-oval with a blunt area at the rear where a possible upturned tail has been lost. A copper alloy mount dating to c.1500 - 1600. The mount is in the form of an extended fleur de lis, the centre expands into a pear-shaped body between a collared section at the top which tapers into a smaller knop, with a tapered trefoil knop at the base. The front is convex and the reverse is largely flat. The reverse has the stubs of two integral corroded rivets. A cast copper-alloy pin, probably from a large size annular buckle or brooch, dating to c 1200-1300. The pin tapers along its length to a blunt point and has a square cross-section with rounded corners, the surface is plain and undecorated except for a ridged collar behind the loop. The loop, which is now broken and bent and would have formerly attached to the buckle by a single loop. Reference: A very similar pin is shown in Egan:(2002) p75; No. 547. Date: Medieval.
