An incomplete silver Roman denarius of Severus Alexander (AD 222-235), possibly dating to the period AD 231-232 (Reece period 11). Reverse type depicting Providentia standing front, head left, holding corn ears over a modius and an anchor in left hand. Mint of Rome. This is probably a hybrid or mule with reverse type of issues 14 or 15 (cf. BMC, p. 196, no. 813 passim, p. 201, no. 875 passim; cf. RIC IV.2, p. 89, no. 252) with an earlier obverse legend. Almost half of the coin is missing due to recent breaks.
