Medieval cast copper-alloy vessel leg, c.1300-1500 AD, probably from a ewer (water jug). The leg has an elongated D-shaped cross-section with a rounded front and flat back. It has an old irregular break at the upper end. The oval foot projects forward and has a rounded end. It is 35.2mm tall, 23.3mm wide, 12.8mm thick; it weighs 38.06 grams. The foot would have been one of three on a complete vessel, which would have been used to hold water for hand-washing (Lewis 1987).

A cast copper-alloy fragment: possibly a dish support from a late medieval/early post-medieval chafing dish. The object tapers to a point at one end. It has a trapezoidal cross-section and appears to have been broken away from another element at the shorter of the long edges of the attachment end. The artefact has corroded to a red/brown colour with patches of light-green corrosion product. It appears to be plain.

A copper-alloy fragment: probably the terminal of a handle from a medieval cooking vessel, probably a posnet. The handle has a low D-shaped cross-section, being flat on its upper surface and shallowly convex below. It terminates in an angled projection at about 135 degrees to the handle's underside, a projection that seems to be characteristic of posnets. Before this projection is a cross patty recessed into the upper surface of the handle. The object now has a mid-green colour with some surface loss; the break is old and patinated.

A lower fragment from a cast copper-alloy medieval to post-medieval chafing dish drop handle. In plan, the handle frame would have been sub-trapezoidal with rounded corners, the frame is rectangular in cross-section. What survives is the lower part, other than one corner which is missing, with a pronouncedly incurved centre. The frame has a dark-green/grey colour; the breaks are old and patinated. A parallel can be found in illustrated in Allen (1984; fig. 192; ref. 165); it also conforms to Lewis's Type B1 (Lewis 1973, 61-64) given a 15th-/16th-century date.

A corroded and abraded cast copper-alloy foot from a later medieval to early post-medieval cooking vessel. The object is prominently splayed at the base in a simple, out-turned, pad-like foot of trapezoidal cross-section, now broken to one side with this part missing. The base is slightly concave. A medieval sheet copper-alloy domed thimble with sloping sides, now squashed. There are multiple circular drilled or punched pits in slightly irregular concentric circles on the sides and top. Just above the base, below the pits, is an incised line. The thimble is 25.15mm long and 17.2mm wide in its squashed state; it weighs 5.15g, but this weight included mud. The thimble is probably late medieval in date (AD 1400-1500). It was probably used for light duty sewing (Egan 1998, 265).

A copper-alloy domed thimble, probably of medieval date with angled sides and a domed top with a distinct carination between the sides and top. The thimble has small circular indentations arranged in slightly irregular lines down the sides and in a spiral around the top. There is a bare tonsure at the centre of the top. The sides are squashed in at the base and it is now 23.9mm long and 15.8mm wide; it is 17.6mm in height and weighs 8.31g.

A copper-alloy stud with a generally flat lozengiform head dating to the late medieval or early post-medieval periods. The head is decorated on the obverse with a saltire cross and a central pellet within a square of pellets. The square sits diagonally within a beaded border. On the reverse is a broken shaft of square cross-section only 3.8mm long, 3.5mm wide, also bent at an angle. The slide consists of a single, sub-rectangular loop with a pair of opposed internal sub-triangular projections about a third of the way up the sides of the frame. The frame is rectangular in cross-section. The frame is slightly asymmetrical and measures 12.2 mm long, 14.2 mm wide and 1.6 mm thick. It weighs 0.80 g. A copper-alloy spur rowel in the shape of a five-pointed star. The arms are flattened oval in cross-section. There is central circular perforation through the body of the rowel through which the rivet attaching it to the spur would have travelled (Dia.: 3.3mm). Small grooves between the points around the hole help delineate them. The artefact is of a red-brown metal small patches of dark-yellow corrosion product. Such rowels are undiagnostic and a wide medieval to post-medieval date is therefore offered; similar examples can be found illustrated in Read (2001, 66; refs. 505-507).
