A small wedge of copper has been put into the brass coin to prevent counterfeiting. This coin has been pierced through the obverse between the centre and the circumference possibly for reuse.

An incomplete post-medieval silver penny of Charles I (AD 1625-1649), probably Group D, unclear initial mark, minted at London, c. AD 1632-1640.
Only half of the original coin survives apparently following a vertical bend along the centre of the reverse. The coin has also been pierced, possibly for re-use as an item of jewellery, through the obverse at 4 o'clock, corresponding to around 9 o'clock on the reverse.
