Treasure case 2013 T308: Not Treasure and returned to finder A gold finger ring (posy ring), D shaped in section with a flat inner side. There is an incised inscription running around about two-thirds of the inside of the hoop. It reads 'Godly loue cannot remoue', all letters in lower case italics, apart from an initial upper case letter 'G'. The inscription terminates in a stamped maker's mark, possibly an upper case letter 'C'. An extremely corroded and incomplete probable finger-ring of Roman date. The object appears to consist of a thickened bezel of rectangular form, rounded at the top from the ends of which extend shoulders and hoop in a continuous curve. The hoop has broken around halfway down each side with the truncated remains abraded to a point on both sides. The hoop is broadly D-shaped in cross-section, with a flat internal surface (int. dia.: c. 19.2mm). A dark-green patina survives in small patches, particularly on the underside of the bezel. A medieval gold finger-ring with five-pointed star bezel containing a blue stone, probably a sapphire. The bezel is faceted, with some bevelling on the lower surface too around a flat base. The shoulders are decorated with three engraved chevrons on each side with an inverted chevron below. These bound multiple finely punched annulets. The hoop has a rounded D-shaped cross-section. It is slightly distorted, but has been straightened since found squashed. It has an internal diameter of c. 17.3mm

A post-medieval gold finger-ring of 18th-century date, probably a wedding ring. The ring is a simple band of D-shaped cross-section, flat internally, and externally plain. On the internal surface are engraved initials TL and GL with saltire stops after each. The letters are open and decorated with hatching. Following the letters is the date Feb 6 1730, the upright of the 'F' of Feb is also hatched. The internal diameter of the hoop is 19.7mm.

The fragment is a flat oval in section with only slightly convex external and internal faces and rounded edges. The bezel is oval, thicker and wider than the hoop or shoulders and flat on top. A complete Roman copper alloy finger ring with black glass intaglio. The bezel is widened and flattened; the shoulders are also relatively wide before tapering to a thin hoop around half way down the sides (min. W.: 2.8mm). There are some abrasions to the edges of the hoop and a recess formed through corrosion on the underside of the bezel. The bezel is very slightly raised in around the setting. A fragment from a Roman copper-alloy finger-ring consisting of the bezel and shoulders. The bezel is circular with an engraved border on its upper surface. It may have been recessed to take enamel, which is now heavily decayed. The shoulders of the hoop emerge from the reverse of the bezel. The hoop has a flat rectangular cross-section. The shoulders are both truncated, one below the bezel, the other not far beyond. The hoop has a shallow curve in profile. A complete gold mourning ring with black enamel decoration and internal inscription, of post-medieval date, c. 1600-1750. The ring consists of a triangular sectioned gold hoop, with an exposed median ridge of gold.
