Treasure case 2014 T229: Acquired by Museum of Somerset A silver gilt Medieval mount in the form of the Holy Rood. The piece is a plain cross bearing the haloed figure of Christ crucified. Two standing figures flank the cross, representing Mary on Christ's left, and John the Evangelist on his right (as we view it). A scrolled panel across the top of the cross probably bore the legend INRI (Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudiorum (Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews)) but this is now worn.
