A post-medieval cast copper-alloy (latten) spoon, surviving complete. The bowl is oval generally rounded, but slightly more steeply at the stem end. There is a maker's mark of a 'I R (with spoon)', on the front of the bowl near the stem. There are pellets above and below each letter. The stem is flat and connected straight to the edge of the bowl with no strengthening tail on the back. The stem terminates in an integral fluted baluster seal top, somewhat distorted; the seal top seems plain. There are extensive traces of a white metal coating on the bowl's internal surface. A post-medieval cast copper-alloy (latten) spoon bowl, detached from the stem following old damage. The bowl is sub-oval with a wider, more squared off end near the stem (the shoulders) and fairly straight sides. There is a maker's mark of I spoon R?, punched on the front of the bowl near the stem. This latter has been broken at its junction with the bowl. There are extensive traces of a white metal coating on the bowl's interior. A copper-alloy dagger guard (quillon) of late medieval date (c. 15th century). It consists of a broadly lozengiform copper alloy bar which expands at either end and widens in the centre to accommodate a rectangular hole (now blocked) - this would have taken the tang of the dagger. Extending to one side and from either end of the main bar, are two joined arches (resembling an inverted number three). The object is plain but corroded. A cast copper-alloy post-medieval double-looped buckle frame, incomplete in as much it is missing its pin. The pin bar extends beyond the edges in squared off lobes. The reverse and upper surfaces are flat, and the frame bevelled internally and externally on the upper surface. This latter is decorated on each outer edge by a six-petalled rosette with three outer petals and three inner. The leg is D shaped in cross-section with a flat back and convex front; it has broken following an old break at a diagonal angle. It is decorated with five longitudinal ribs. An incomplete post-medieval cast copper-alloy seal matrix with multiple dies. The artefact is cross-shaped with a central perforated element from which four arms of circular cross-section extend; one is broken and the flared terminal with the die has been lost. The surviving dies are broadly circular in shape (c. 12mm in diameter) and each contain a shallowly engraved device within a border. A copper-alloy spur rowel in the shape of a five-pointed star. The arms are flattened oval in cross-section. There is central circular perforation through the body of the rowel through which the rivet attaching it to the spur would have travelled (Dia.: 3.3mm). Small grooves between the points around the hole help delineate them. The artefact is of a red-brown metal small patches of dark-yellow corrosion product. Such rowels are undiagnostic and a wide medieval to post-medieval date is therefore offered; similar examples can be found illustrated in Read (2001, 66; refs. 505-507).
