A square double-sided copper-alloy coin weight of post-medieval date. The weight is for a unite (20 shillings/laurel) of Charles I (1625-1632; Withers and Withers 1995, 12-13; ref. XXs e). The top left corner of the upper surface is counter stamped with a crowned 'C'. The stamp is typical of square coin weights of Charles I (Withers and Withers 1995, 67). Biggs (1992, 30) notes that square coin weights were succeeded by round ones in 1632. The upper surface of the weight has slightly smaller dimensions than the lower. A post-medieval copper-alloy coin weight for a rose ryal of James I. The obverse depicts the shield of British arms on a rose struck at an angle to the flan, and the reverse is a crown above XXXIII // S within a circular border. There is a crowned I countermark in the top right corner of the reverse. The coin weight is 19.4mm square by 4.3mm thick and weighs 149.8 grains (9.7g). The coin weight is 24% light compared to its official (lighter) weight of 196.5 grains (Withers and Withers 1995, 68). A copper-alloy square coin weight for a spur ryal of James I, tariffed at XVIs VId indicating it related to coins of the revalued 2nd coinage, 1612-1619. These weights were replaced by round ones with similar designs post 1632 (Withers and Withers 1995, 38). The coin bears the common countermark of a stamped crowned I in the top left corner of the reverse. The obverse design has been struck off centre. The coin weight measures 16mm by 16mm, 3-4mm thick and weighs 5.64 grams (87.0 grains); it is 11-12% light.

A post-medieval copper-alloy square biface coin weight possibly for a Lion, possibly made in Antwerp. The weight is flat and on one face is an unclear raised design possibly of a lion seated left, tail curled up over haunches. This design is usually flanked by pillars with three arches above and floor below all within a beaded circular border. On the reverse there may be a hand, possibly flanked by initials, also within a beaded circular border. A copper-alloy seemingly unifacial coin weight for a half guinea of late post-medieval date. The coin weight is square in plan with a thin rectangular cross-section. One side is stamped with the letters P G, above the numerals 2 (doublestruck) and 16; the back is plain. Between the letters, and with its top slightly above is a stamped rectangle with engrailed sides, probably a local maker's mark. A complete copper-alloy bifacial coin weight, for the Portuguese 'joe' gold coins, issued between AD 1760 and AD 1773. The value of 18 shillings indicated was equivalent to the 'half joe'/2 escudos coin (Withers & Withers 1995, 55). Both faces are marked with a small S above a large 18 above a small 4 . 14 1/2, all within a laurel wreath. This indicates a weight equivalent to that of 18 shillings.
