The frame was formed of two conjoined ovals such that the sides incurve slightly; one of the loops has been lost due to old damage at its junction with the pin bar. The frame is shallowly bevelled externally on the upper surface; the lower surface is flat. The pin bar has a trapezoidal cross-section. It is extended at each end in a rounded knop. The pin is missing. The buckle frame has corroded to a variable red/brown colour with some patches of dark-green patina surviving in a few places.

The fantail foot of a Roman bow brooch, probably a bow-and-fantail type or Aesica varient (1st/2nd century AD). The brooch has broken at a central circular 'button'. This would have been raised up; the upwards angle as the button connects to the foot seems an original feature and suggests the bow above was also raised. A central setting may have been housed within a double concentric ring moulding that forms the button or this may have been the point from which the bow projected up and out. A corroded but complete cast copper-alloy mount of post-medieval date. The mount consists of two lobes connected by a trio of transverse ridges, all moulded in low relief. On the lower surface there are slight recesses in the lobes. At each end is an integral lug which curves round and overlaps the other by 10.1mm; one lug is set in slightly more than the other, which abuts the edge. An incomplete medieval cast copper-alloy single looped buckle, missing both pin bar and pin. The frame is oval and angled with a possible central pin rest. The pin bar has been lost in its entireity, with the side of the buckle twisted up at one end where the pin bar would have emerged; it is assumed that the pin bar would have been off set and narrowed. The outer edge is expanded both in width and thickness. The frame has a variable mid-green colour and would appear to be plain.

The head and upper bow from a copper-alloy Developed T-shaped brooch of early Roman date. The leg is missing below a central knop due to an old break. Furthermore, only the head of the pin survives. Cylindrical wings conceal the copper-alloy axis bar for the hinged pin. Their upper surfaces are decorated with two incised lines at each end. The head of the pin has a pointed projection for tensioning, but this is all that survives of the pin; the very beginnings of the shaft have been been to one side.
