Copper-alloy seal matrix, with fairly flat circular-section conical handle rising to a flattened rounded pierced terminal. The circular die is engraved with a central motif of a rampant lion, in profile looking left on the impression, with all four legs clearly shown outstretched. The inscription is between dotted borders, and appears (from the photo of the impression) to read * SVM LEO FORTIS (I am a strong lion). 14th century.
