Fragment from a cast copper alloy chafing dish 'drop' handle of late Medieval or Post Medieval date (1400-1650). The fragment represents approximately half of the entire handle being irregular in plan and an irregular hexagonal shape in cross section. The upper section of the handle has a different cross section being broadly oval; this is because it would have fitted through an attachment lug which would in turn fit to the chafing dish. This lug would allow the handle to swing and pivot. The frame of the handle is angular in shape with several pointed (star like) projections. …

Gold posy ring. The inscription inside in lower case retains much of its original black enamel and reads: 'This and I until I dye', with partly legible unidentified maker mark, possibly SY. The motif and birds flanking a heart was popular in the 18th century, and in the absence of an identifiable maker's mark there is no evidence to date this ring pre-1708.

Fragment of a cast copper alloy simple terret of late Iron Age - early Roman date 100 BC - 100 AD. The terret fragment is C shaped but originally would have been sub-oval (D shaped) in plan. It has an irregular sub-oval (D shaped) cross section. The fragment is broken in two places; at the peak of the bow and across the attachment bar. Both these breaks are relatively fresh suggesting recent damage within the plough soil. The attachment bar is sub-rectangular in cross section. Where it extends into the body of the terret ring a thickened sub-circular moulding is present. This is t…

An incomplete cast copper alloy knobbed terret ring of probable later Iron Age or early Roman date (100 BC - 200 AD). Approximately 1/3 of the terret survives, originally it would have been D shaped or an irregular slightly angular pentangle in plan; it is now an irregular crescent (C shape). The cross section varies in shape along the length of the terret; for the majority it is D shaped. At the base of the ring is a horizontal strap bar with an oval cross section. This bar is incomplete having an old distorted break at one end. The strap bar itself is slight and much thinner than the…

Cast copper alloy strap fitting, belt slide, of probable very late Iron Age or more likely an early Roman date (50 - 200AD). The strap fitting is broadly sub-rectangular in both plan and profile.
