A cast lead alloy weight of probable post medieval 1600-1800 date. The weight is circular in plan and rectangular in cross section. It has a tapering square shaped hole through its mid point (4.5mm x 4.2mm) and has no sign of decoration, casting seam or casting spur. It is a light grey colour with a relatively thick surface patina. It is most likely to be a one ounce weight but could possibly be a counter / balance weight from a knife or dagger. The weight measures: 20.3mm in diameter, 11.2mm high and weighs 26.88 grams (0.98 ozs)

Cast lead or lead alloy weight of probable medieval date (1300 - 1550). The weight is heavily abraded and plough rolled having lost much of its original surface. What remains is a broadly oval (with tapering sides terminating in blunt points) in plan and lozenge (diamond) shaped in cross section. On the upper point is a broken integral cast suspension loop - the upper part has been lost - originally it would have been circular in plan and oval in cross section. The body of the weight has a large central rib which extends from the upper edge to the base and a thickened exterior rib whi…

Cast lead or lead alloy weight of probable late Medieval or Post Medieval date (1350 - 1650). The weight is sub-circular in plan and D shaped in cross section. The front face is domed (convex) and undecorated. The reverse face is also plain. A series of small incised scratches are visible and form a crude grid. These lines are covered by the patina and corrosion and so must be relatively old. Their function, unless decorative, is unknown. The weight is a mid grey white colour with an uneven corroded and abraded patina that covers all surfaces. A direct parallel for this weight has not…

The front face of the weight depicts a relatively crudely depicted fleur-de-lis. The reverse depicts A voided long cross with a V shaped wedge in each divided quarter. The weight is a mid cream grey colour with an even patina which covers all surfaces. The edges (and faces) of the weight have been abraded causing it to become asymmetrical in plan. The weight measures 25mm in diameter, and is 4mm thick. It weighs 15 grams…

A cast lead alloy weight with a circular cast hole and transverse bar across the centre. The upper surface is domed whilst the reverse is broken revealing a hollow centre. One long edge has a irregular oval shaped socket and it seems most likely that this weight was cast onto a larger object. As such it is most likely to be of a modern date (1600-1800) The weight measures: 26.2mm in diameter, 16.7mm high and weighs 32.11 grams

Cast lead alloy weight with integrally cast loop of probable medieval or post medieval date (1250 - 1700). The weight is broadly cylindrical. The loop formed by two wedges being cut away leaving a rectangular sectioned projection - a drilled hiole is present but is somewhat elliptical probably through wear (diameter 3.2mm). There seems to be no decoration present. The weight is a mid grey cream colour with a good relatively unabraded patina. Where abrasion has occurred this has revealed the grey metal beneath. There is no evidence of corrosion products. The weight has a mass of 1 1/2 …
