Cast and wrought copper alloy penannular brooch of Type D probably dating to either the late Roman or the Early Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) period (300 - 1000 AD). The bracelet is formed from a length of irregular oval sectioned cast copper alloy wire. This wire has been bent into an irregular oval shape (broadly C shape in plan) to form the bracelet. The wire measures 3.8mm width and is 2.6mm thick. The two terminals of the bracelet are formed from bending and flattening the last 7.5mm of each end of the bracelet back upon themselves. A copper-alloy annulet or ring brooch dating to the medieval period (1250 - 1450). The frame is circular in plan and irregular in cross section. The upper surface of the frame is decorated with six collets (or turrets) which are evenly spaced. Between the collets the frame is decorated with a series of punched annulets arranged in two parallel rows. Between two of the collets the brooch bulges inwards to accommodate a pierced hole (diameter 2.1mm). Originally a pin, now lost, would have been fixed. A near complete copper alloy Roman Trumpet brooch dating from AD 100-200. The bow of the brooch has an angular profile and an angular D shaped cross section. A fragment from the lower bow and foot of a cast copper alloy brooch most probably of Roman date (AD50-350). The alloy of the metal is relatively unusual seeming to be heavily leaded creating a very grey coloured alloy. The form of the brooch comprises an angular bow which has transverse ribs terminating in a large moulded D shaped bead from which an oval shaped foot descends. A medieval brooch formed of a silver wire hoop decorated with twists and circular punch marks. The pin is retained by a recess in the frame and has a rectangular collar on the front with three punches. The brooch is distorted into an oval shape, but was almost undoubtedly circular when made. A large number of comparable simple rings of varying size survive from the period. The ring is silver- gilt and dates from the thirteenth century.
