The bell fragment is irregular coming from the central part of the bell close to the mouth / central split which is formed from two circular perforations joined by a linear slot. Copper alloy lace end / lace tage / lace chape of later medieval - post medieval date (AD 1350-1650). It is formed from a rectangle of rolled copper alloy sheet to form a tubular slightly tapering cylindrical cap or chape. The seam is butted together and runs vertcially down the reverse. There is no evidence of a hole to secure the chape to the lace. It is a mid green colour with a well formed surface patina. The chape measures 30.8mm length, has a diameter at the mouth of 6.4mm and at the base of 5.2mm, the side walls are 0.9mm thick and it weighs1.83 grams
