A cast copper alloy double seal matrix of post medieval date (AD 1600-1800). The matrix is pedestal shaped in plan with a baluster like profile / handle that tapers and expands regularly along its length. At the mid-point of the profile is a narrow ridge that expands and contracts to a wide circular die / matrix face at one end and a similar but much smaller die at the other. The difference in sizes represents the seal and counter seal. The handle is undecorated and there is no evidence of marks to help align the seal whilst in use. A small millstone or large rotary quern stone of uncertain date (Late Iron Age - Medieval) however, possibly thought to be a later medieval date (AD 1250-1600). The stone is incomplete being broadly oval in plan and D shaped in cross section. Significant stone is lost around the edges due to fracturing possibly through heat (there are blackened sooted marks in places) or frost action. A copper alloy Post-Medieval pipe tamper which depicts Mercury, and probably dates from AD 1700-1900. The anthropomorphic figurine is depicted in a classical pose with one arm raised to its head and his head is turned to the crook of his elbow. The figure is naked apart from his winged cap he is holding a 'cup' or possibly a scroll in his raised hand and possibly a bottle in his other. The winged cap is similar to the Roman phrygian with one extant wing curled / cupped to the head whilst the other is broken off. The edge of the hat has a distinct brim / circumferential ridge. The …
